Vita

Lukas Gnaiger is a cinematographer from Vienna specializing in feature films, documentaries and serial formats.

Growing up in Vorarlberg, he early on acquired a sound technical and practical basis as a camera assistant on television productions. Building on this, he completed his studies at the Vienna Film Academy with Christian Berger from 2007 to 2012, sharpening his visual language skills as a cinematography student. His graduation film Your Beauty is worth nothing already won four Austrian Film Awards; several subsequent films were screened at renowned international festivals and received numerous awards (including Toronto International Film Festival, Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, PÖFF, Academy Awards shortlist).

The thematic range of his projects is always characterized by a feeling for socio-cultural peculiarities and issues as well as his precise and undistorted view of characters. Stylistically, his visuals are characterized by a coherent formal language and atmospherically dense images.

Lukas is a member of the Austrian Association of Cinematographers (AAC).
